Swapping lab coats for scorecards, four postgraduate candidates from the Department of Chemical Engineering took a brief hiatus from their research to help judge at the Regional Eskom Expo for Young Scientists on 10 and 11 August 2023, held at Paul Roos Gymnasium. The students included postdoctoral researcher Dr George Teke, and master’s candidates Alex Brock, Warren Fleming and Veronica Lourens.
The Eskom Expo allows school learners to explore and showcase their own scientific investigations. “It was fun and interesting to see the learners’ work,” said Dr Teke about the event. “It was very insightful to see what the new generation is capable of,” agreed Ms Lourens.
